Punta Mujeres Property

Punta Mujeres is a small fishing based village located along the north eastern coastline of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, its closest neighbours are Arrieta and the lava tube caves of Jameos del Agua. The closest beach to Punta Mujeres is in Arrieta a few kilometres down the coast. The town has a very authentic Canarian feel with the presence of some nice apartments and houses built in keeping with the fishing village typed feel of the area. You will find all the amenities expected in any village with a good selection of local restaurants, bars and shops. The village is located close to the main road which leads to Orzola in the north and down to Playa Blanca in the very south. In a few minutes you can find youself in one of the many unspoilt golden sand beaches to the north of Jameos del Agua just off the road. A few minutes more and you can pull off the road to the right to Caleton Blanca, a breath taking lagooned beach perfect for children and adults alike. The white sands found along the stretch of coastline are not natural to Lanzaroto but were blown over from the Sahara.

Punta Mujeres translates to 'The coastal head (or point) of women' why the area was called this is unknown. Maybe it dates back times when fishing was the main stay of the area and the women would gather on the point to see there husbands returning from rough seas.

Property for sale in Punta Mujeres can start at 98,000 euros or £66,894, for this you get a two bedroom one bathroom apartment with some sea views just back from the front line. The property market in Punta Mujeres is pretty stable and there are no large developments in process that could undermine this. Lanzarote has an amazing way of letting each of its areas give a very different atmosphere and Punta Mujeres is no different. This area is definitely in the 'fishing village' category for atmosphere with a small harbour, tiny rowing boat typed fishing boats and locals milling around playing cards loudly in tapas bars and a nice relaxed feel.

In summary Punta Mujeres is a relaxed fishing village out of the tourist hubub but still features some great restaurants and bars with a local Lanzarote feel. Property prices are pretty good compared with more popular areas but this is mellowed by the fact that there are not many developments going up to unsettle the property market.
